What We Do
Education Programs
In this program we seek to ensure all children’s welfare rights&Education include orphans, children with disabilities, child laborers, indigenous children, and girls at risk, refugees, migrants, street children and all other vulnerable / disadvantaged children in the community.
Every child has the right to access equal education and high quality education, to feed, clothe & shelter, safety and health care regardless of their circumstances, race, ethnicity, religion, disability status and gender identity .We believe education and skills training to both children and youth is a vital key to unlock potential in their lives and enable them shape their own futures and thrive.
Many children and youth lose hope in life due to poverty, injustice, and much hardship that accompany and deny them opportunity to learn .Most children in Trans-nzoia Kenya face many frequent challenges and interruptions in their learning such as- lack of learning materials, school fees, conducive environment, lack of food, lack of medical health care, while others lack a means of transport to reach at school on time due to their geographical destination. Such above challenges have caused most of them forced to drop out of school, engaged into drugs, early child marriage, unexpected pregnancies, anti social behavioral, child labors, criminality and violence.
Those few who managed to complete their formal education do not get good performance grades that may qualify them to acquire basic skills, employment or training thus raise the high rate of unemployment for youth in the community due to high illiteracy.
When young people are equipped with high quality education and vocational skills training, that would enable them to gain knowledge they need to be innovative/ creative, entrepreneurs as well as able to discover and secure employment and leadership opportunities around to participate in economic development growth .This would reduce the high rate of poverty ,illiteracy and unemployment in the community .
Therefore E.H.R provides practical solutions to eradicate poverty and illiteracy in the community using different approaches all based on deep understanding of the challenges and hardships that affect both children and youth, also girls at risk including those with disabilities among them
Early Childhood Development Stage
This section include children from 3years –6 years
- 3 years – Baby class
- 4 years – Pre-primary I
- 5 years -Pre-primary II
We provide safe place for children to come and play with different games items facilities to read and write, develop their talents and technology. This helps them to improve their literacy. Children come to play educational computer games to develop their critical thinking and other forms of games that encourage learning at early stage. We have good trained and qualified ECD teachers whom we have employed, to teach guide and care for our children.
Primary Education through University and Training
In this section we don’t have our own school; we educate children through other schools.
We foster and help them access quality education through various different schools where they offer quality education.
We desire to help every child to enjoy quality education but we are limited as the number of children increases quickly. This has driven us to anticipation to establish our own school/learning center so as to help many vulnerable children to access quality education. There has been also a challenge when our children on the way to their various learning schools: some meet their former laborers team , rappers that threaten their security , drug abuse teams; Thurs make some of them not to arrive to school, so this provokes EHR to establish their own learning center/school for care and protection to children.
For older youth we provide life skills development training, entrepreneurship skills so that they are empowered to make wise decision, develop financial resilience and shape their own futures.
Girls Education
We put more emphasis to a girl child education so that to address all their disadvantages closely ensuring that all girls have safe and a quiet place to learn.
Many girls drop out of school, fail to join vocational skill training or college and become vulnerable to sexual violence and exploitation, early child marriage, unexpected pregnancies, engage into drugs, even some end up committing suicide, All this just because they have no otherwise in life due to high rate of poverty in their family.
E.H.R work to restore hope in their lives by taking them back to school or vocational skill training .these include girls who got pregnant and gave birth while in school, school dropouts, those engaged in drugs and all orphans / poor and the needy girls so that they can be educated, empowered and shape their own futures. We provide for all their special and basic needs including educational requirements.
